Story about Zoomin' The Mountains of East Tennessee.

In the heart of East Tennessee, where the Smoky Mountains paint a backdrop of majestic beauty, there’s an event that brings together car enthusiasts from all corners — Zoomin’ The Mountains. This isn’t just any car show; it’s a celebration of community, speed, and the open road, all wrapped up in the spirit of charity.

As the sun rises on a crisp May morning, the town of Johnson City begins to buzz with excitement. The streets slowly fill with the sound of engines purring and the sight of Miatas gleaming under the early light. It’s the start of Zoomin’ The Mountains, and this year promises to be unforgettable.

The event kicks off with a meet and greet, where friendships are formed over shared passions and stories of the road. Laughter and chatter fill the air as old friends reunite and new ones are made. The DoubleTree by Hilton, the event’s hub, becomes a hive of activity as participants check in, eager for the adventures ahead1.

The following days are a blur of action. The Shine and Show event is a feast for the eyes, with rows of polished Miatas showcasing their splendor. Owners stand proudly by their vehicles, sharing tales of restoration and customization. The air is thick with the scent of wax and leather, and the cars sparkle like jewels under the Tennessee sun.

But Zoomin’ The Mountains is more than just a static display of beauty. It’s about the thrill of the drive. The event takes participants on a journey through some of the most scenic and challenging roads in the region. The Snake, Back Of The Dragon, and other mountain routes call to the drivers, their curves and twists offering an exhilarating experience that tests skill and nerve.

After the day’s drives, the evenings are filled with camaraderie and celebration. Cornhole tournaments, ax throwing contests, and picnics turn competitors into companions. The sound of good music and the aroma of BBQ fill the air as stories of the day’s drives are exchanged1.

And at the heart of it all is the spirit of giving. Zoomin’ The Mountains is not just about the love of cars; it’s about helping those in need. The event has a proud history of raising funds for local charities, including the Bristol Motor Speedway Children’s Charities and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It’s a reminder that the community of car lovers is a generous one, driven by a desire to make a difference1.

As the event draws to a close, there’s a sense of fulfillment and joy among the participants. They’ve shared an experience that goes beyond the cars — they’ve been part of something that celebrates the best of humanity: generosity, friendship, and the open road. And as they depart, they carry with them memories that will last until the next Zoomin’ The Mountains, where they’ll gather once again to do it all over.

Welcome, Miata Friends!

Zoomin' The Mountains, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money for local charities in the area.  Our primary focus is to help families and communities impacted by difficult times.  In years past, we have contributed to Children's Charities, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

What we've done

Over the last 16 years, Zoomin' The Mountains Of East Tennessee (ZTMOET) has raised and donated over $160,000 to the Bristol Motor Speedway Children's Charities, and over $7,000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Each year, we host an event that has become one of the best in the Southeast.  Zoomin' the Mountains of East Tennessee (ZTMOET) gives Miata enthusiasts the chance to gather and participate in several events, for example:  show off your Miata ride at a Shine and Show, and drive popular roads such as The Snake, Back Of The Dragon, and other outstanding mountain roads.  We also love to include events after the drives, such as cornhole tournaments, catered get-togethers, restaurant outings, and more!

Presented to

Zoomin' The Mountains

In February of 2023, Zoomin' the Mountains won the Passion Fundraising Award for 2022!  This honor is a direct result of your participation and contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation throughout the years, and recognizes the charitable contributions to everyone who puts together, volunteers for, and contributes to our organization.  THANK YOU ALL!

Proceeds from the ZTMOET June 2023 event will directly benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; a group of scientists, caregivers, donors, volunteers, and people with CF and their families whose mission is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.   ZTMOET would like to ask you to support the 17th Annual “Zoomin’ The Mountains of East Tennessee” and in so doing, provide much needed support for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their search for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
